Let me introduce myself

Hello and welcome to my Ded World. I am the creative genius behind I.C. Ded Peeples, inc. I hope you are enlightened to this wonderful tradition of Los Dias de los Muertos, or Days of the Dead to us gringos. My work is not considered traditional folk art associated with this festive holiday, but it is guaranteed to make you smile and fall in love with skeletal art as I did when I started my company in 2004. I wasn’t always a creative genius. In fact, my background was far from having an artistic flare. Here is my journey.

My 19-year corporate career in the Marine Insurance Industry began in St. Louis, Missouri in 1980 which resulted in a transfer to Southern California in 1991 where I remained for the next 8 years ‘til all hell broke loose in my business and personal life. When the Company I was with eliminated my department in 1999, I lost a 6-figure annual salary and so much more. My unemployed husband at the time, did what any supportive spouse would do at a time like that, he filed for divorce.

So, I sold everything, packed up what little I had left, grabbed my cats, and headed to the Land of Enchantment. I immediately found a job as a commissioned sales person. How humbling, but it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. For it was at this furniture store, I made a huge commission from a customer’s sale. As a matter of fact, I am still reaping the benefits of that huge commission because I married that man in 2002.

We moved to the East Mountains outside of Albuquerque in 2004. After my hubby mentioned he loved the vivid colors associated with Days of the Dead, I painted every wall in our house a different bright color; added a few skeletons on walls, canvas, wine bottles, Starbuck bottles, and before I knew it, my Ded guys were everywhere. I not only saw Ded Peeples, I licensed them and turned my newly found obsession into a career that I’m in LOVE with!!!!

These days you will find me in my Edgewood, NM home studio creating Dedware for the masses. The public loves me, retail stores love me, New Mexico Taxation Department loves me, and most importantly, my very supportive husband, Howard, loves me. Without him, my Ded world would be truly dead. Thank you for being a part of my journey and I look forward to you seeing Ded Peeples too.
